Offspring at risk for anxiety disorders had higher cortisol 30 min post waking. Offspring at risk for anxiety disorders had higher cortisol throughout the day. The anxiety effect was primarily driven by maternal history of panic/agoraphobia. Offspring of mothers with more anxiety diagnoses had the highest cortisol. Maternal depression history was not associated with offspring cortisol.
