The morphology evolution of CrB₂ in Al-Cr-B alloy has been studied in this work. It is found that the final morphology of CrB₂ is inevitably influenced by the preparation temperatures. At different preparation temperatures, the CrB₂ crystals display various geometric shapes, such as hexagonal plate and hexagonal prism. The morphology transformation of CrB₂ is related with the reaction paths and growth mechanisms. Besides, a growth model is proposed to understand the formation of CrB₂.
