A mechanistic model for suspended solids in free water surface constructed wetland has been developed linked to TP and phytoplankton. The model has been successfully calibrated and validated in two full scale constructed wetlands for three years. The sensitivity analysis reveals which are the most influential parameters in the model. Resuspension produced by wind and avifauna activity are crucial processes in the performance of the studied variables. Emergent vegetation cover is a key factor in improving solids sedimentation and preventing resuspension.
