Seasonal variation affects the composition and antibacterial and antioxidant activities of Thymus vulgaris

Thymol was the major constituent in all seasons, mainly in October/2012. The essential oil presented strong antioxidant activity in all evaluated methods. The essential oil was considered a strong antimicrobial against S. aureus strains. Thymol and carvacrol were the main active compounds.
