Based on an extended TPB, we predicted pedestrians’ and car drivers’ violations at an automated railroad crossing. Three chronologically related railroad-crossing situations with varying levels of risk were tested. Frequency of risky crossing, attitude, and subjective norms were the main predictors of violations. In the most dangerous situations, violations were the least likely and the most unpredictable for both pedestrians and drivers.
