Start-up flow behavior of pipelines transporting waxy crude oil emulsion

An elasto-viscoplastic thixotropic model is chosen for waxy crude oil emulsion gel. Start-up flow of crude oil emulsion is computed in a horizontal isothermal pipe. The required restart pressure is elevated after the emulsification of crude oil. Both the time for flow start and from start to equilibrium are raised for emulsion. Due to emulsion formation, successful crude oil pipeline restart becomes harder.
