By using a microwave-assisted method, we synthesized [Cu(1−x)Ag(x)]2S semiconductor nanoparticles with 0 ≤ x ≤ 1 and annealed them under an argon (Ar) atmosphere at 250 °C. Results of x-ray diffraction indicate that the as-synthesized samples are multiphase, but the number of phases decreases upon annealing under Ar atmosphere at 250 °C. Measurements of the band-gap energy show that, as the Ag concentration x increases from 0 to 0.5, the band-gap energy of [Cu(1−x)Ag(x)]2S decreases from 1.9 to 1.7 eV. However, upon further increasing the Ag concentration from 0.5 to 1.0, the band-gap energy of [Cu(1−x)Ag(x)]2S increases dramatically from 1.7 to 2.0 eV.
