PVA/EG based matrix films of SS were designed and optimized using RSM.

DBT and SS concentrations had highest impact on tensile strength and flux, respectively.

Predicted composition of SSTF was 2% of SS, 2:1 ratio of PVA:EG and 40% of DBT.

Optimized SSTF exhibited tensile strength of 11.871 MPS and flux of 43.569 g/cm2/h.

Optimized SSTF exhibited significant lowering of TC, TG, and VLDL level in blood.
