Infrared signals for adsorbates on Au(111) electrodes have been detected between 1800 and 1300 cm− 1 for high cyanate concentrations in solution. cyanate anions trimerize in an electroless process yielding cyanuric acid on Au(111) electrodes. ATR-SEIRAS and DFT calculations agree with specifically adsorbed cyanurate on Au(111) electrodes formed either from cyanuric acid or from cyanate in solution.
