Lipoamino acid (LAA) derived from cysteine was able to solubilize amphotericin B (AmB).
LAA micelles and micellar equimolar mixtures with bile salts sodium cholate (NaC) and sodium deoxycholate (NaDC) were better solubilising agents towards AmB than pure bile salt micelles.
LAA-containing micellar systems solubilised AmB in its monomeric and less toxic form.
AmB solubilised in LAA-based micelles had in vitro antifungal activity against Candida albicans comparable to commercial formulation Fungizone.
