ZnO nanoparticles release Zn2 + ions into aqueous medium. Zn2 + ions are incorporated into layers of polydiacetylene (PDA). Interfacial interaction with ZnO is essential to achieve reversible thermochromism. PDA/Al2O3, TiO2, SiO2 and/or Zn2 + do not show reversible thermochromism.
