Juvenile and adult mice were compared for brain OXTR density and parental behavior.
Maturation of parental and infanticidal behavior is not reached until adulthood.
Juveniles had more OXTR in CGC, PVP, and LSdi (among other regions) than adults.
Adult females had higher OXTR density in the VMH and AOB than juveniles.
Either up or down regulation of OXTR can be correlated to parental behavior.
