Decomposition of sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim by continuous UVA/LED/TiO2 photocatalysis: Decomposition pathways, residual antibacterial activity and toxicity
UVA/LED/TiO2 photocatalytic reaction was conducted in an external type continuous photoreactor. Aniline was identified as a new intermediate during SMX decomposition. Synergistic effect of SMX/TMP mixture compromised antibacterial activity removal. Chronic toxicity was detected even with low level SMX/TMP exposure.
