Factors affecting frost growth and performance of the thermal systems are reviewed. Numerical and experimental investigations are treated. Mal-defrosting and retention water issue should be addressed more extensively. Parametric effects on heat transfer in heat exchangers operating under frost, defrost and dry/wet condition are surveyed. Heat transfer enhancement and surface treatment studies are summarized.
