Sedimentary characteristics of shallow-water braided delta of the Jurassic, Junggar basin, Western China
文摘
Braided delta in the Junggar basin formed in a shallow water condition with stable tectonic movement, gentle slope gradient, and wide basin. The shallow water braided delta is characterized by coarse grain size, large cross bedding, discontinuous normal rhythms, high sand ratio, distributary channels with minor mouth bars, and progradational seismic reflections. Sedimentary model of the shallow water delta is significant for predicting the distribution of lithologic traps in hydrocarbon exploration.
