One group is closely related to microdissected FDCs and the other group is closely related to fibroblasts and myopericytomas.

FDC sarcomas may, therefore, develop from different maturation stages of fibroblastic reticular cells or mature FDCs.

Patients of the fibroblast-like group presented a tendency towards a shorter overall survival.
