Pyogenic Liverc abscess (PLA) due to Clostridium difficile is fairly rare. Diarrhea or antibiotic usage may not accompany liver abscess caused by C. difficile. Although PLAs are most often polymicrobial, C. difficile is obtained as pure culture. Some of the extra intestinal infection strains of C. difficile can be non-toxigenic. Toxin production of the strain may promote poor prognosis.
