Different snow fabrics form in polar snow between 0 and 3 m depth. Fabric and microstructure of snow are correlated and layered. Fabric and microstructure are affected by temperature gradient metamorphism. The influence of fabric on physical and mechanical processes of snow and firn deserves to be studied.
