YMn2−xFex(H,D)y compounds (5 ≤ y ≤ 6) were synthesized under high H or D pressure.
Their structural and magnetic phase diagrams were determined versus Fe content.
They form complex hydrides with YMn2H6 type structure for x < 1.
They form interstitial hydrides with cubic or orthorhombic structures for x > 0.2.
A large H/D isotope effect is observed on interstitial compound cell volumes.
