The first example of isolable double azomethine ylide was reported. The pyrrol[3,4-f]isoindole-1,7-dicarboxylate showed 14π-aromatic character. The 7-oxobicyclo[2.2.1]heptadiene skeleton spontaneously extruded carbon monoxide.
