Sacrificial dilemmas are often used to measure preferences for moral codes.

In these dilemmas, endorsing utilitarianism typically requires endorsing action.

We study the effect of de-confounding these factors.

We find that standard dilemmas are poor measures of preferred moral code.

De-confounded dilemmas may provide a more valid way to infer preferred moral code.
