NH2 groups were successfully grafted on the surface of the ramie fiber via ammonified modification. Liquid ammonia dyeing was applied successfully in this study. The dyeing efficiency of ramie fabric in liquid ammonia was considerably improved through ammonification treatment, due to an improvement in fabric wettability. The adsorption isotherms of reactive dyes (Red 195) and direct dyes (Blue 71) on ramie fabric in liquid ammonia were fitted well with Langmuir and Freundlich models, respectively.
