A day ahead price sensitive reactive power dispatch with minimum control

A new day ahead price based reactive power dispatch problem with minimum control is proposed.

The aim is to find optimal control settings to minimize total reactive power supply cost.

Proposed method recovers both the investment cost and operational cost of reactive sources.

Shunt capacitor response is made sensitive to marginal price and is solved using Cuckoo Search algorithm.

Numerical results reveal that the ancillary services maintain a proactive role during higher pricing hours.
