Efficient preparation and application of palladium loaded montmorillonite as a reusable and effective heterogeneous catalyst for Suzuki cross-coupling reaction

The palladium loaded Mt (Pd@Mt) with Pd content of 0.55 wt% was obtained efficiently. The Pd@Mt was an effective catalyst for Suzuki reaction (yield of 79–99% for 20 reactants). The XPS, TEM and SSA results indicated the reduction of palladium ions in the reaction. The Pd@Mt can be easily recovered by either centrifugation or filtration. The Pd@Mt recovered by filtration afforded yield above 90% for the 6th run.
