Five cobalt(III) dithiocarbamate complexes (1–5) were prepared. X-ray crystal analysis of 3 revealed that Co atom occupies Oh environment. 4 has been found to be a very good sensor for Br−. Cobalt sulfide and cobalt-iron sulfide nanoparticles were prepared from 3 to 5. Cobalt-iron sulfide showed better photocatalytic activity compared to cobalt sulfide.
