A single-chain antibody variable fragment specific to pneumococcal PspA was selected. Binding affinity of the antibody fragment, 2B11, was determined to be 5 nM. Epitope on PspA for 2B11 was determined and supported by docking analysis. 2B11 was capable of detecting PspA from pneumococcal lysates.
