Langmuir volume, total organic carbon, BET surface area are analyzed, respectively. Adsorption capacities of shales are affected by both total organic carbon and BET specific surface area. When samples have similar TOC, adsorption capacity exhibits positive correlation with BET specific surface area. Empirical correlation for the calculation of adsorbed gas content of Horn River Shale is developed.
