Drosophila are a powerful model for studying mechanisms of neurologic disease. Axonal mitochondrial motility can be visualized in vivo with Drosophila mutants. Treatment with cisplatin alters larval behavior. Treatment with cisplatin alters mitochondrial motility and membrane potential. These changes occur in the absence of apoptosis.
