West Nile virus infection of horses may result in subclinical meningo-encephalitis. Transcriptional upregulation of interferons occurs prior to WNV-viremia. Rapid interferon response result in robust antibody response and WNV clearance. Innate immune response may abrogate clinical WNV disease despite mild pathology.
