Molecular composition of Early Eocene dammar resin has been investigated. 20,24-epoxy-25-hydroxy-dammaran-3-ol is detected in total extract of the amber. 20,24-epoxy-25-hydroxy-dammaran-3-ol is an oxidative product of dammarenediol. Plants had produced the enzyme dammarenediol cyclase 54 Ma ago.
