We model eruption dynamics in flood basalt magmatic systems. Volatiles relate the tempo of flood basalt magmatism to processes and conditions in the mantle. Pulses of magmatism are an expected consequence of sporadic magma ascent from Moho depth. Eruption dynamics and environmental effects of flood basalt magmatism are fundamentally linked.
