In 2011, Neurocysticercosis (NCC)-associated active epilepsy caused an annual median loss of Rupees 12.03 billion (95% UI Rs. 9.16–15.57 billion) equal to US $ 185.14 million (95% UI US$ 140.91–239.55 million) in India. The disease resulted in 1.73 (95% UI 0.82–3.39) disability adjusted life years (DALYs) per thousand persons per year in India. The median DALYs per thousand persons per year due to NCC-associated active epilepsy are high in urban than in rural India.
