This is the first study using audio signals for progressive die wear monitoring.
Signal extraction recovers audio generated by stamping from corrupted recordings.
Audio spectra and band power variations show good correlation with wear level.
Signal strength increment can be detected significantly prior to process failure.
Extracted signal shows strong correlation with increasing wear at 4.2–5.4 kHz range.
