Experimental evaluation of system modifications to increase R1234ze(E) cooling capacity

We present an cooling capacity (Q̇o) comparison of R1234ze(E) and R134a. R1234ze(E) Q̇o is impaired by lower vapor density and latent heat. The test bench is equipped with a bypassed IHX and a frequency inverter. The drop-in Q̇o of R1234ze(E) is more than 22% lower than that of R134a. R1234ze(E) matches R134a Q̇o at 43% higher compressor rotation speed and using an IHX.
