The psychometric properties of a European Portuguese version of FES-I were analysed. The Portuguese FES-I had excellent internal consistency and test-retest reliability. Good concurrent validity and acceptable convergent validity were observed. The Portuguese FES-I is reliable and valid to measure fear of falling in older adults.
