Age variation in contemporary groups of bulls relates to metabolic differences. Younger bulls have lower testosterone and FSH and suggested higher AMH. Blood sampling routine affects the suitability of proxies for feed efficiency. Blood T3 is influenced by the interaction between age and feed efficiency. Cholesterol is robust to sampling routines and may be a proxy for feed efficiency.
