UO2(NO3)2.6H2O and La(NO3)3.6H2O interact through their intermediates. Formation of (U0.5La0.5)O2 by 500 °C. La deficient mixtures decompose to give U3O8 and (U0.5La0.5)O2 as end products. La rich mixtures decompose to give La2O3 and (U0.5La0.5)O2 as end product.
