Let A_i, B_i (i = 1,2) be m_i ×n_i complex matrices. We give a criterion for the regularity of the pencil λA₁ der=0 SRC=/images/glyphs/BSS.GIF> A₂ − B₁ der=0 SRC=/images/glyphs/BSS.GIF> B₂, and obtain the Weierstrass-Kronecker canonical form of this pencil from that of λA_i − B_i, i = 1, 2. Examples are given which illustrate our results.
