EE improved functional outcome and reduced infarct volume in ischemic rats. 3D quantitative analysis revealed that EE treatment enhanced neovascularization in ischemic boundary zone. EE increased endothelial cells proliferations and VEGF/Flk-1 expression in ischemic rats. The enhanced angiogenesis was correlated with improved function of stroke animals.
