Metabolizable energy content of traditional and re-esterified lipid sources: Effects of inclusion in the diet on nutrient retention and growth performance of broilers from 7 to 21 days of age
The AME of traditional and re-esterified lipid sources was evaluated in broilers. The AME content of the lipid sources depended on the method used for determination. The AME of the lipid sources was often higher than their gross energy values. Re-esterified lipids were well digested by broilers at levels of up to 50 g/kg diet. Supplemental fat improved EE retention and growth performance of broilers.
