A 2D visualized physical model was used to examine displacement mechanisms and results by injecting VR solution and nitrogen to assist steam injection for heavy oil. Based on the physical model, the effect of cold VR injection (CVR) and nitrogen on the improvement of oil recovery was studied. Based on the physical model, two injection methods of VR solution, CVR and hot VR injection (HVR), were compared to provide a reference for the selection of VR injection to assist steam injection process.
