Marangoni effect of various alcohol on the mass transfer rate of methane in aqueous solution was investigated. 1-Propanol exhibited the highest mass transfer rate enhancement. Surface tension of aqueous alcohol solution was measured to corroborate the Marangoni effect at methane condition. Methylosinus trichosporium OB3b was fermented at 1-propanol aqueous solution and exhibited enhanced cell growth rate.
