Technology transfer initiatives often build on inventor-entrepreneur approach. Heterogeneity in scientists’ attitudes to entrepreneurialism call for differentiation. Three types of academic scientists can be identified. Typology enables matching of scientists to existing entrepreneurial approaches. Involving external entrepreneurs seems to be an underutilized approach.
