The work environment is increasingly recognized as a source for Legionella infections. A broad spectrum of occupational categories is at increased risk of legionellosis. Work-related exposure to contaminated aerosols is the main determinant for developing occupational legionellosis. Industrial facilities equipped with cooling systems are commonly implicated in cases of occupational legionellosis. Surveillance policies and guidelines for the prevention of occupational legionellosis are needed.
