On the nose: Olfactory disturbances in patients with transient epileptic amnesia

Olfactory hallucinations are reported in more than half of TEA cases. The majority of people with TEA show objective reductions in odor identification. Persistent episodic memory problems are common in TEA. Route finding difficulty was associated with olfactory ability. Olfactory ability did not relate to other memory measures or clinical variables.
