Comprehensive characterization and antioxidant activities of the main biflavonoids of Garcinia madruno: A novel tropical species for developing functional products
Twenty-one biflavonoids were identified in G. madruno by HPLC–DAD–MSn. Morelloflavone and fukugiside were the major biflavonoids found in all samples. The epicarp was the richest source of biflavonoids (>10%, dry wt). Biflavonoids content is responsible for the high antioxidant activity of G. madruno. The inter-flavonoid bound promotes the activity mainly by a SPLET mechanism.
