Giant somatosensory evoked potentials (SEPs) were found in the dominant hemisphere of the juvenile myoclonic epilepsy without praxis induction (JME-WI, 16.7%) group and bilaterally in the parietal cortex of juvenile myoclonic epilepsy with praxis induction (JME-PI, 50%) group.
Praxis induction is a determinant of enhanced sensory cortical excitability in JME patients.
Enhanced excitability of the somatosensory cortex in JME-PI patients may be related to their less favorable response to treatment.
