Comparison of indirect fluorescent antibody testing (IFAT) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the diagnostic support of equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM)
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and serum samples from healthy (10) and neurologic horses (27) were tested for antibodies to Sarcocystis neurona and Neospora hughesi
Overall agreement between the IFAT on CSF and ELISA serum/CSF titer ratio was 91%
The IFAT on CSF and ELISA serum/CSF ratio are indicated to help support a laboratory diagnosis of EPM.
