The mitochondrial genome of the brown hagfish was determined. De novo transcriptome sequence analyses of the brown hagfish were carried out. The RH genes had a higher evolutionary rate than the RHAG, RHBG, and RHCG genes. Only the bird lineage in the RHBG genes had relatively long branches.
