The near-wake of a cylinder with yaw angles from 0° to 45° by 5° steps was investigated.
Two distinct flow patterns with a transitional pattern were identified in the near-wake.
The direction of the backflow approached to that of the streamwise with increasing yaw.
The spanwise vortices shed nearly parallel to the cylinder axis.
The magnitude of the flow unsteadiness was generally reduced with increasing yaw.
